Curriculum Highlights
Research has shown that children do their most important learning before the age of five. Our programs have been developed to provide the best intellectual, emotional, physical and social support during this critical period.
Jack and Jill Childcare uses teacher-created curriculum based on kindergarten readiness standards. The same weekly themes are used in all classrooms at age appropriate levels, allowing for their integration into all daily activities. Some themes explore: people we care about, the world around us, our healthy families, can you imagine and signs of spring, to name just a few.
Our curriculum balances teacher directed and child-initiated opportunities for children to learn in a nonsexist, multi-cultural environment that is filled with age appropriate equipment and learning materials.
Our daily lesson plans integrate the following activities for a stimulating day of play and learning, which varies by age.
♦Art and Sensory
♦Letters, Shapes and Stories
♦Math and Science
♦Large and Fine Motor
♦Dramatic Play
♦Music and Movement
Curriculum Enhancements
Spanish
Exposure to a second language at an early age has the potential to lay a foundation for future learning. It offers children new ways of thinking about the concept of language and other cultures in the world around them. Preschoolers and Pre-Kindergartners at Jack and Jill Childcare receive weekly Spanish instruction in a relaxed environment through fun, creative activities that promote language recognition and literacy.
Sign Language
Jack and Jill Childcare teachers make extensive use of sign language with infants and toddlers, as it can help decrease the amount of frustration children have in communicating their needs before they are able to speak. Instruction in American Sign Language is also offered on a weekly bases in most classrooms.
Optional Dance
A talented dance instructor offers on-site dance instruction during the day once a week to students at Jack and Jill Childcare for an additional fee. This is a convenient way to introduce your children to music and movement without having to schedule a separate lesson after a busy day.
