June 2023 Newsletter

June 8, 2023

Dear Jack & Jill Families:

I hope families are enjoying the warm weather and continue to enjoy the first days of summer.

Friendly Reminders:

  • Our program license controls the morning drop off time we are able to receive children in the morning. Kindly remember St Anthony opens at 7:00 am and Blaine opens at 6:30 am. Please keep this in mind for your morning drop off.

  • Children should be in attendance by 8:30 am for breakfast service. Children arriving after this time will need to have breakfast taken care of at home. This allows our classroom schedule to begin promptly at 9:00 am. With the warmer weather upon us, it is important to stick to the daily schedule so the younger children get their morning outdoor time in before it may be too warm. Thank you for your understanding.

Vacation and Absentee Requests

Are you planning an upcoming vacation, a long weekend, or just a special day with your child?  If so, please let us know if your child will be absent and email: info@jackandjilledu.com.  A child arriving after 10:00 am without advance notice of a late arrival will be marked absent for the day.

Shoes for Summer at Jack and Jill
Correct shoes are an important part of keeping the kids safe, especially during outdoor play.
All children must wear closed toed shoes and socks to school each day.  We also ask that children do not wear crocs.  Unfortunately, we have found that children wearing crocs and flip flops often trip and fall because of shoes not staying on correctly. Children’s feet also become easily irritated by the woodchips when not wearing socks. Thank you for your understanding and help in keeping everyone safe and comfortable this summer.

The Sun is Out and It is Time for Sunscreen!
Weather permitting, it is our goal that all children get outside twice per day to enjoy the fresh air and participate in large motor exercise.  This includes our babies too!  In order to keep your child protected from the sun, please assist us with the following:

  • Please bring a bottle of lotion style sunscreen (non-aerosol) for your child, labeled with first and last name. MN DHS Public Health Regulations do not permit aerosol sprays.

  • Please apply the first layer of sunscreen in the morning, prior to drop off.  (We will apply a second layer after rest time, prior to going outside.)

  • Please dress your child for the weather!  Sun hats are excellent-especially for the younger children.

JJ's Jam Children Return!
Starting Monday 6/12, the JJ’s Jam Summer Program fully begins, and all the school agers will return for the summer. Be aware that this will mean more cars and traffic in the parking lot during drop-off and pick-up each day so please be extra patient and careful in the parking lot.
